In the picturesque setting of Malibu, Secretcape has undertaken a remarkable interior design project, transforming an abandoned property into a haven of tranquillity and sophistication with a breathtaking sea view.

Discovered by the clients during a holiday in California about three years ago, the property, though in a dilapidated state, captured their hearts with its calm surroundings, captivating views, and frequent visits from a family of wild deer. This emotional connection fuelled their ambition to turn the space into a sanctuary, a true home.

The extensive renovation was a necessity, considering the poor condition left by the previous owners. Outdated plumbing and electrical systems, random room distribution, and windows without frames prompted a complete reevaluation of the space and layout.

The primary goal was to accentuate the stunning sea view and integrate the surrounding landscape seamlessly. Opting for a subtle Scandinavian contemporary design, Secretcape employed a gentle colour palette to complement the outdoors without overshadowing the natural environment. The windows were enlarged, and balconies were added to all rooms facing the horizon, fostering a deep connection with the surroundings.

Natural wood, creamy tones, and carefully selected, high-end materials contributed to a minimalistic aesthetic that not only enhances the interior but also harmonizes with the natural surroundings. The result is a house that feels like an integral part of nature, where the family is still greeted by the same family of wild deer during each stay.

The success of this project lies not only in its aesthetic appeal but also in the meticulous consideration of the environment, showcasing Secretcape’s ability to create spaces that seamlessly blend with their surroundings while offering the utmost in luxury and comfort.
