KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. have completed Akaya Horizon, a 22,000 square foot beachfront residence on the coast of Antigua that introduces a new model for ultra luxury coastal living. Designed as a micro resort style family compound, the project by KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. blends architecture, interiors and landscape into a unified environment shaped around privacy, wellbeing and effortless everyday living.

KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. developed the project as a collaborative effort from the outset, ensuring the architecture, interiors and surrounding landscape evolved in parallel. Rather than creating a single monumental villa, KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. conceived the residence as a collection of independent suite villas arranged across the site. Each villa features private gardens, open air bathrooms and framed views of the sea, allowing residents and guests to enjoy both autonomy and connection within the wider compound.

Landscaped galleries link these private retreats to a central pavilion that forms the social heart of the home. Here, KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. integrated shared amenities including kitchen and dining spaces, work areas, a cinema and a pool deck connected directly to the beachfront. The layout encourages natural gathering while maintaining a calm and spacious atmosphere.

A single level plan across the entire property eliminates stairs and circulation bottlenecks, allowing intuitive movement throughout the residence. KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. selected locally quarried stone, timber shingles and natural textiles to create a tactile palette that reflects the Caribbean setting while expressing a refined barefoot luxury aesthetic.

Through passive ventilation, shaded walkways and high performance glazing, KSR Architects & Interior Designers and Ward & Co. ensured the design responds sensitively to the coastal climate while maintaining uninterrupted views of the surrounding sea.
