Located within the historic Kessler Park neighbourhood of Dallas, Texas, this exceptional project by MAROS Designs involved the complete renovation of a 100-year-old Tudor Revival residence alongside a carefully considered 1,800-square-foot addition. The objective was to preserve the architectural integrity and heritage of the home while creating a contemporary living environment centred on wellness, creativity, and meaningful everyday experiences.

Working within the constraints of the existing structure and local conservation requirements, MAROS Designs developed a sensitive design solution that honours the property’s rich history while introducing modern functionality. A key feature of the renovation was the addition of 55 new windows, strategically positioned to maximise natural light and strengthen the relationship between the interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.

The design approach focused on materiality, craftsmanship, and atmosphere. A refined palette of salvaged old-growth pine, limestone, microcement, warm plaster finishes, and bespoke millwork creates a layered and timeless aesthetic. Throughout the home, original architectural features have been carefully preserved and complemented by contemporary interventions, allowing historic and modern elements to coexist harmoniously.

At the centre of the residence is a striking kitchen extension featuring custom cabinetry, a sculptural island, integrated storage solutions, and natural textures designed to encourage gathering and daily rituals. The award-winning “Monk Chic” primary bathroom serves as a serene retreat, combining minimalist elegance with rich tactile materials to create a spa-like environment. Additional spaces include a dedicated vinyl listening library, expanded living areas, and thoughtfully framed architectural moments that celebrate the home’s original character.

Guided by MAROS Designs’ philosophy of “spiritual living,” the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can be both visually compelling and emotionally restorative. By preserving the quality, character, and soul of the original residence while introducing timeless contemporary elements, the home has been given new life and enduring relevance for generations to come.
