Interior Designer: Bergman Design House

Bergman Design House has completed an interior design project nestled high in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca, creating a holiday retreat that balances quiet luxury with deep personal meaning. Overlooking sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea, the finca unfolds across approximately 4,000 square feet and is conceived as a pied à terre where a Swiss family retreats to reconnect with nature and with each other.

Bergman Design House approached the project by allowing the home itself to guide the design. Light and shadow, the distant presence of the sea, and the ancient trees scattered across the hillside informed a palette rooted in place. Mediterranean monastic architecture, Japanese wabi sabi philosophy, and an appreciation for imperfection shaped an interior that feels timeless yet fresh. Sun bleached neutrals, earthy terracottas, olive greens, and cool marine blues establish a calm backdrop that echoes the surrounding landscape.

The home is arranged over two levels and includes four individually designed bedroom suites, each with its own en suite bathroom. Expansive open plan living and dining spaces flow naturally toward a central lounge, which opens onto a panoramic terrace where indoor and outdoor living merge seamlessly. Throughout the finca, Bergman Design House selected stone, linen, natural plaster, handcrafted tiles, and wood for their tactile qualities and enduring character, encouraging a slower and more grounded way of living.

Each bathroom was treated as a jewel box, introducing vivid stones in ochre, emerald, and pink to create moments of surprise without competing with the views beyond. Many materials were sourced or commissioned from local artisans, reinforcing a sense of authenticity and collaboration. The result is a soulful interior where heritage and modern sensibility coexist, and where every room feels like a distinct chapter in a carefully composed narrative shaped by craftsmanship, setting, and the people who call it home.
