Studio LBI has completed the full redesign and renovation of a large Victorian townhouse, delivering a family home that balances elegance with practicality while restoring a sense of historical character. Commissioned to overhaul a property that had previously lost many of its original features, Studio LBI set out to create interiors that feel refined yet relaxed, described as dressed up but not fussy.

Studio LBI approached the project with a focus on designing every detail, from bespoke joinery and artwork through to a newly crafted staircase. The aim was to reintroduce a design language more sympathetic to the building’s Victorian heritage, while ensuring the house could support the demands of modern family life and entertaining.

The reconfigured home now spans four floors, with a layout that prioritises flow and flexibility. Studio LBI created spacious living areas that offer comfort and privacy, alongside dedicated leisure spaces including a tiered cinema room, gym and a generously sized home bar with lounge seating. Practical additions such as a dedicated dog shower sit alongside these more social zones, allowing the house to adapt seamlessly between everyday use and larger gatherings.

One of the most complex aspects of the project for Studio LBI was the requirement for the family to remain in residence throughout the renovation. To address this, the work was carefully divided into two phases, enabling the occupants to move into completed areas while construction continued elsewhere. This approach required detailed coordination and precise project management.

Architectural interventions were central to the transformation. Studio LBI reimagined the open plan kitchen and dining space by introducing zoning and a glazed partition, while a coffered ceiling added character to the dining area. A double height void on the lower ground floor was infilled to increase usable space, and a bespoke spiral staircase replaced a modern structure, restoring a sense of cohesion and craftsmanship throughout the home.
