Project name: Grand Grade II Listed Townhouse
Location: Belgravia, London
Interior Designer: Laura Hammett Ltd
Completion: 2014

Laura Hammett have completed a contemporary and historically accurate refurbishment of this 4,600 square foot five storey grade II listed, six bedroom townhouse in Belgravia.
As a development the designers were given complete control of the design, however the buyer was always in mind and the prime central London location dictated the level of luxury needed throughout. Laura Hammett ensured this was executed in an understated and elegant way to be in harmony with the heritage of the house. The aim was to create a classic yet contemporary interior that was also in keeping with the period of the property, ensuring that all changes and additions were historically accurate to the property’s Regency heritage; from the cornices, to the fireplaces and ceiling roses, and all in accordance with the Listed Building Consent.

The formal areas (dining, study and drawing room) of this project, feature grand rooms with high ceilings. These rooms exude luxury and a sense of grandeur that many other buildings are not able to carry. The period cornices, ceiling roses and doors are blended with the contemporary furnishing by the timeless herringbone parquet flooring which allows for accents such as metallic furniture detail in bronze and gold, modern art and large statement lighting. In addition to the grade II listed section of the building there is also a new extension. The new extension to the rear of the property affords a more modern design, with the kitchen and family room being notably more contemporary than the rest of the house. The design also incorporates an extensive outdoor terrace, inner courtyard and balcony.
