The Eastern Shore Grandeur is a beautiful residential project located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the estate encompasses 44,000 square feet spread across ten structures which is the epitome of grandeur in the form of a private sanctuary. It was very important for Purple Cherry Architects to implement design strategies that would help to break down the large spaces into human size rooms. They layered in a complex millwork throughout the interior which allowed them to make the large scale spaces feel warm, welcoming, and cozy. In fact, the millwork details help to divert the attention away from the large scales and focus more on the rich design details of each room. Therefore the main home never feels overwhelming despite having a number of amazing and large spaces.

The home includes a 40-foot long Chicago brick barrel-vaulted dining room with wine cellar and tasting room, hunt room with Chicago brick floor and wood shelves supported by custom steel straps, two-story bar with Douglas fir trusses and a hidden door to the lower level wine cellar, billiards room with surrounding custom drink rail and curved beaded ceiling, stunning office with surrounding custom shelves painted in a deep rich monochromatic colour, kitchen with wood-fired pizza oven, library with extensively detailed arched built- ins, and a large kitchen with custom pot rack in addition to eight ensuite bedrooms and two children’s rooms. The design works so well as the homeowners were also uniquely involved in each step of the design process. They supplemented the home’s new furnishings with their own antique and vintage pieces, sculpture, and fine art which makes it an incomparable and unique estate.
