Ana Donohue Interiors recently completed a full renovation of a historic sailors residence in Jamestown, Rhode Island. The project was a labor of love, as the original building had been stripped of much of its detail and was in need of a complete overhaul. The location and views of the area were taken into consideration during the design process, as Rhode Island is known for its seaside charm and New England traditions.

The goal of the project was to create a relaxed and calming contemporary environment while still preserving the traditional elements that make Rhode Island unique. The team began by completely renovating the kitchen, utilizing a white, blue, and wood palette in a more subtle and sophisticated way. These details were then carried throughout the rest of the house, with various materials layered to create a cohesive design.

One of the standout features of the renovation is the use of curves throughout the kitchen and cased openings, which add a touch of tradition and reflect the building’s architecture. The primary suite also features a custom wall-to-wall rug, which was installed in a way that makes it feel like walking on the beach. The hardware and lighting used throughout the home were carefully selected to imitate the reflective elements on sailboats.

The finished result is a stunning home that the clients love spending time in. They are overjoyed with all of the details and beauty that Ana Donohue Interiors created, and are thrilled to entertain their guests in such a unique and elegant space.

The renovation of this historic sailors residence in Jamestown is a testament to the talent and expertise of Ana Donohue Interiors. By combining contemporary design with traditional elements, the team has created a space that seamlessly blends with the surrounding area and captures the essence of Rhode Island’s seaside charm.
