Hamilford Design has completed a remarkable interior design project centered around the sensitive restoration of a period property, where preservation of key features and historical significance were paramount. The project aimed to seamlessly integrate modern design elements while honouring the heritage and architecture of the space.

At the forefront of the project was the transformation of the residence into an inviting space that balances functionality and aesthetics. The client’s desire for an open-plan family living and dining area flooded with natural light led to the creation of a modern atmosphere while respecting the building’s history. The kitchen, designed as the focal point of the home, was tailored to cater to both home cooking and social gatherings, serving as a central hub that impresses guests and hosts alike.

Hamilford Design’s approach to the project emphasised an understanding of the property’s historical significance and a commitment to preserving its integrity and character. For example, a traditional mosaic tile floor was commissioned for the entrance hall, reflecting the period property’s heritage.

Close collaboration with the client ensured their vision was realised, resulting in a space that not only met the family’s practical needs but also reflected their unique identity. Artwork, curated books, and ceramics showcased the family’s heritage, adding personal touches throughout the home.

The design brief called for strong, clean lines, a confident yet neutral colour palette, and the use of natural materials, all while paying homage to the building’s history. The kitchen area, particularly the bespoke banquette style seating and pantry with fluted glass and ironwork doors, stood out as functional yet beautiful features, embodying the project’s fusion of aesthetics and functionality.
