DAAA Haus reimagined the social heart of DoubleTree by Hilton Malta, creating a Mediterranean inspired experience that flows seamlessly from the reception and lobby bar to the beachfront destinations of Sabi Beach and Kora. The practice developed a cohesive design language that brings the outdoors inside, connecting guests with the island’s landscape, heritage and craftsmanship from arrival to the shoreline.

Within the reception and lobby, natural materials including light oak, clay finished surfaces and textured laminates are paired with motifs inspired by traditional Maltese handmade lace. An earth toned palette with terracotta accents and carefully layered lighting highlights the texture and depth of these materials, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Juniper, the lobby bar, extends this experience through rich green tones, velvety upholstery, timber finishes and organic textiles, while a back illuminated vegetation panel forms a striking focal point that transforms the space from day into evening.

The same design principles continue outdoors at Sabi Beach and Kora, where handcrafted terracotta, weathered timber, natural stone, textured plasters and burnished metal create an authentic expression of barefoot Mediterranean luxury. Four distinct settings guide guests through the rhythm of the day, from the timber framed Sabi Café to the adults only Kora supper club with its hand carved stone walls and intimate atmosphere.

Throughout the project, DAAA Haus celebrated Mediterranean craftsmanship by collaborating with Maltese stonemasons, artisan terracotta makers and specialist timber craftsmen from Athens. Every handcrafted detail reinforces a contemporary hospitality experience that is rooted in local tradition, authentic materials and a strong sense of place.
