End Grain Ltd has completed a bespoke kitchen project in the Surrey Hills that celebrates natural materials, refined craftsmanship and understated contemporary design. Created around a Scandi Japandi aesthetic, the kitchen combines warmth, functionality and precision, resulting in a space that feels calm, welcoming and perfectly suited to its surroundings.

The design brief called for an organic kitchen centred on oak cabinetry, complemented by a discreet secret pantry that remains hidden within the overall composition. End Grain Ltd developed the space to embrace the beauty of its countryside setting, using a restrained palette and carefully considered detailing to create a timeless interior with a strong connection to nature.

At the heart of the project is a generous island that anchors the room and provides a natural gathering point for everyday living, entertaining and food preparation. The island reinforces the open, uncluttered character of the kitchen while enhancing both functionality and circulation. End Grain Ltd paired warm oak cabinetry featuring solid micro shaker detailing with striking Taj Mahal marble, creating a harmonious balance between texture, durability and elegance. The combination of natural stone and timber gives the room depth and character while maintaining the simplicity associated with Scandinavian and Japanese inspired interiors.

The project also demanded exceptional technical precision. The incorporation of Gaggenau appliances required meticulous planning to ensure every element was seamlessly integrated into the bespoke joinery without compromising the clean architectural lines of the design. End Grain Ltd carefully resolved this challenge, ensuring the appliances enhance the kitchen’s performance while remaining visually understated.

Throughout the project, End Grain Ltd remained committed to creating a kitchen that is as practical as it is beautiful. The concealed pantry, carefully integrated appliances, generous island and refined material palette work together to produce a cohesive space that reflects the studio’s passion for Scandi Japandi design. The finished kitchen delivers an elegant, highly functional environment where craftsmanship, natural materials and thoughtful planning combine to create a timeless heart of the home.
