Extreme Design has completed a distinctive kitchen project that places sustainability, craftsmanship and a deep connection to nature at the centre of everyday family life. Created as the communal heart of the clients’ home, the space reflects a conscious move away from city living towards a slower, more intentional lifestyle centred on growing organic produce, cooking from scratch and welcoming family and friends.

At the centre of the kitchen is a sweeping curved peninsula that acts as both a sculptural focal point and a practical workspace, encouraging movement through the room towards the surrounding garden views. A hand applied liquid metal finish evokes the texture of tree bark, reinforcing the connection to the ancient woodland beyond. Mirrors applied to the cabinetry help reflect natural light deeper into the room, while an extra large fridge and freezer accommodate freshly harvested organic produce.

Extreme Design selected natural quartzite worktops, handcrafted oak joinery and oak burr drawer boxes in keeping with the clients’ preference for authentic materials, rejecting quartz and porcelain entirely. A dining table crafted from a fallen oak tree, botanical wallpapers, carefully placed planting and a cork clad ceiling further strengthen the relationship with nature. The result is a kitchen where thoughtful planning, cultural influences and natural materials come together in a warm, expressive and highly functional family space.
