The clients approached Gunter & Co with a clear vision for a home that would feel lived in rather than overly polished. The brief called for interiors capable of accommodating contemporary art, treasured personal objects and the realities of modern family living, while also respecting the architectural heritage of the apartment. Existing features that complemented the building’s period character were carefully retained, while unsympathetic details were removed and replaced with more considered interventions.
A major achievement of the scheme was the reworking of the apartment’s layout to ensure the surrounding parkland could be experienced from every entertaining space. Gunter & Co opened up walls throughout the property, allowing natural light and greenery to flow through the interiors. Soft green Crittall elements were introduced to echo the tones of the treetops outside, subtly reinforcing the connection between the home and its setting.
