Hollander Yacht Design

Hollander Yacht Design have unveiled Ad Astra, a yacht interior project that redefines adaptable luxury through a design language inspired by the cosmos. Conceived as an architectural framework rather than a fixed aesthetic, the concept was designed to evolve with future owners’ preferences. To demonstrate its versatility, Hollander Yacht Design developed three stylistic interpretations of the same spatial structure, ranging from classic refinement to contemporary ease, highlighting how mood, tone, and material could transform the atmosphere without altering the yacht’s core engineering.

Market research determined that the second, modern interpretation would form the foundation for Ad Astra. This direction combines natural tones and refined textures to create a light yet grounded ambience. Sustainably sourced Tay wood and pale oak flooring are balanced by glossy walnut accents and the rich veining of Noir St. Laurent marble. Light plays a defining role throughout the design, particularly in the owner’s suite, where 180 degree vistas flood the space with natural brightness. Custom alabaster lighting fixtures cast a sculptural glow, while woven mother of pearl panels by Siminetti and Jacquard wave patterned fabrics add tactility and calm.

The project’s compressed two week deadline for finalising all loose furniture and décor demanded agility and creative precision. With no time for renderings or physical samples, every selection, from colour palettes to finishes, was made directly from supplier imagery. Inspired by the yacht’s celestial name, the design integrates navigation themed details such as armillaries, sextants, and astrolabes, inviting discovery. A bespoke star chart artwork, engraved into plexiglass and filled with metallic resin, captures the constellations of the yacht’s launch day.

Attention to detail extends beyond interiors to brand identity, with the Ad Astra logo subtly featured on custom glassware, napkin rings, slippers, and playing cards. Hermès orange threads through the décor and linens, providing cohesion across cabins, each defined by its own accent palette. Midcentury pieces by Pierre Paulin and Verner Panton, alongside reupholstered Gio Ponti chairs, lend sculptural elegance.

From the scent of Hermès fragrance to a signature orange cocktail and a curated onboard soundscape, Ad Astra offers a multisensory experience that embodies Hollander Yacht Design’s mastery of emotion, adaptability, and timeless sophistication, an interior that truly reaches for the stars.
