Market research determined that the second, modern interpretation would form the foundation for Ad Astra. This direction combines natural tones and refined textures to create a light yet grounded ambience. Sustainably sourced Tay wood and pale oak flooring are balanced by glossy walnut accents and the rich veining of Noir St. Laurent marble. Light plays a defining role throughout the design, particularly in the owner’s suite, where 180 degree vistas flood the space with natural brightness. Custom alabaster lighting fixtures cast a sculptural glow, while woven mother of pearl panels by Siminetti and Jacquard wave patterned fabrics add tactility and calm.
The project’s compressed two week deadline for finalising all loose furniture and décor demanded agility and creative precision. With no time for renderings or physical samples, every selection, from colour palettes to finishes, was made directly from supplier imagery. Inspired by the yacht’s celestial name, the design integrates navigation themed details such as armillaries, sextants, and astrolabes, inviting discovery. A bespoke star chart artwork, engraved into plexiglass and filled with metallic resin, captures the constellations of the yacht’s launch day.
