Horwood Interiors

Horwood Interiors has completed a refined yet welcoming transformation of a period townhouse in Kensington, reimagining it as a timeless family home that balances tailored design with everyday practicality. The clients, parents of young children, sought a space that paired high end detailing with relaxed comfort, prompting Horwood Interiors to craft an environment where luxury and liveability work seamlessly together.

Horwood Interiors placed great emphasis on natural fabrics, layered textures and carefully curated decorative lighting to create an interior that feels both sophisticated and warm. Every element was meticulously considered, with bespoke joinery designed to integrate elegantly with concealed storage solutions. The clients’ exacting standards shaped the approach, ensuring that craftsmanship and detail remained central throughout.

Supporting the rhythms of family life was at the heart of the brief, and Horwood Interiors introduced clever, child friendly solutions such as low level wardrobe drawers and accessible cupboards in the playroom and living areas. These features promote independence while allowing toys and essentials to be neatly tidied away. Children’s rooms were intentionally designed to be playful without sacrificing style, using performance fabrics and practical finishes that withstand daily use.

In the principal bedroom suite, Horwood Interiors created a serene retreat with generous storage leading to a luxurious ensuite and dressing room. Concealed push open doors maintain symmetry, while a custom oak framed headboard wall upholstered in soft woven fabric and contrasted with teal wool adds depth and calmness.

To improve the home’s flow, the original staircase was moved, allowing for an additional dressing room and the restoration of the original handrail. New terraces and a mansard level bedroom suite further elevate the property. On the ground floor, the kitchen connects to a family oriented nook with built in storage, upholstered in durable olive velvet. In the main reception room, subtle joinery, hidden storage and a custom corner sofa in high performance fabric exemplify Horwood Interiors’ commitment to practical elegance.

The result is a home that reflects innovative craftsmanship and a warm contemporary vision, perfectly suited to the rhythms of modern family life.
