‘NURAI’ means the white moon in Turkish language- a white moon through a dark forest. NURAI is located in Business Bay, Dubai facing towards the Burj Khalifa. This 3,300 sq.ft restaurant has a trendy design and serves delicious international cuisine. The design is inspired by the amazing ambiance of the full white moon. The curved honeycomb patterned ceiling and full height wooden illuminated wall with hidden forest light makes NURAI an excellent example of a contemporary interior concept. 4SPACE decided to bring the hexagonal circle shape to form the domes of the ceiling structure, so customers can feel the curvature of the moon.

Adding hexagonal clusters with white acrylic gives the resemblance of the moon surface. The innovative feel of the restaurant is achieved through ceiling design styles. Mixing the ceiling structure with a wooden texture gives more depth to the focal point of the concept. Giving the dome-shaped ceiling with circular patterns attributes to the resemblance of a full moon.

Another aspect would be the full height wooden illuminated wall with hidden forest light. A hushed ambiance and superb lightings brought an intimacy to the entire space. The design has a strong and unique vision. When customers walk through the door it is almost as though they are walking through a dark forest illuminated only by the light of the full moon through trees. The shades created by moonlight is a relaxing feeling, something which the designers were keen to re create for this project.
