World-renowned architect Kobi Karp’s translation of luxury tropical modernism, the Floating Cube Residence, boasts Pine Tree Drive’s only direct ocean view. The ingenious elevated design, inspired by Le Corbusier – coupled with nearly 44,000 square feet of wide-open land along the Indian Creek waterway – creates a unique oasis to capture coastal breezes. Whether a private retreat or a magical setting for entertaining, this ultra-chic residence, set back from the street with a dramatic entryway drive, serves multiple purposes. Its smart architectural layout and thoughtful details give the feel of living within a functional work-of-art. The spiral staircase is a major focal point, modelled after the Guggenheim Museum. It doubles as a dramatic sculpture leading to a rooftop with 360-degree views, an ideal venue for watching sunsets or enjoying vistas of Miami’s phenomenal skyline.

The white walls of the expansive interiors are an art collector’s dream, while the indoor/outdoor flow is seamlessly felt through the telescoping doors that slide effortlessly into each other for a clean modern look. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide incredible natural light from every room, drawing the impressive landscape and water views indoors. The detached guesthouse, fitness centre and second-floor pool with a lounge area further enhance its allure, making it the ultimate private enclave. Upon entering the drive, more ‘wow factors’ await. Multiple detached interior spaces, including eight bedrooms, eight and a half baths and a cinema room add to the lush wonderland of exterior living vignettes, koi ponds, gardens and a waterfront basketball half-court which slowly reveal themselves.

Kobi Karp’s favourite aspect of the project is said to be the 13,178-square-foot residence which earns its name ‘The Levitating Geometry’ as is sits off the ground between two to four feet. The multiple horizontal and vertical places create an exquisite study in minimalism. The design is one of a kind. Within the Miami metropolis, it is rare to experience such privacy and serenity like that of the Floating Cubes Residence. The innovative architecture created by Kobi Karp is a true masterpiece. It shines a new light on residential architecture, incorporating the inspiration from iconic establishments, such as the Guggenheim Museum.
