Designed by renowned interior designer Andre Fu, Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong takes full advantage of its exceptional waterfront location to create a dynamic interplay between indoor and outdoor space. A podium structure houses the hotel’s restaurants, meeting spaces and public areas, with a tower rising above for guestrooms and suites. The design of the podium levels creates expansive waterfront terraces with Victoria Harbour views. The landscaped outdoor spaces, unique to an urban Hong Kong hotel, provide al fresco dining areas, recreation and relaxation areas including an infinity-edge pool, and space for large-scale artworks.

One of the key aspects of the hotel is their signature Chinese Restaurant Hung Tong and destination bar Red Sugar. It signifies a complete departure from the rest of the hotel’s fluid design and centres on ‘Old Hong Kong’ with injections of the colonial and shipping past. The warm dining room features brick walls, vintage-inspired leather chairs, and tinted glass pendants. In the spirit of 1960’s Hong Kong, the design includes metallic tilted window frames and rustic 1960’s carpets. Floating above the harbour and the hustle of the city, the vast outdoor terrace is the pinnacle of the Red Sugar experience. The 270-degree wrap around terrace offers sweeping views of Victoria Harbour and the skyline of Hong Kong Island. Landscape consultant, ALN, designed a flexible garden landscape of timber, granite pavers, hedge forms, and plantings of grasses to provide intimacy and privacy within the space without obstructing the waterfront views.

The hotel evokes an unparalleled relaxed luxury of a contemporary urban resort and a hybrid of modern business and leisure lifestyle. The tactile curved marble walls, round tables and sculptural pieces throughout the hotel, are inspired by the fluidity and movement of water, celebrating the views of the harbour seen from the hotel. The minimalistic design in the hotel draws guests out to look at the spectacular view of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. With the outdoor terraces designed as tropical gardens, there is a sense of an urban oasis, with a contrast of wild and tropical plants set against a backdrop of an urban jungle. The minimalist design of the hotel is built with today’s traveller in mind. Through the use of landscaped gardens and outdoor terraces, light, airy and bright public spaces and guest rooms, and unique and innovative outlets, we are able to achieve a world of relaxed luxury whilst maintaining a five-star hotel experience.
