Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood Hotel, is one of the world’s most majestic hotels, situated in a landmark building on Place de la Concorde. Originally built in 1758, the legendary palace offers a refined and illustrious history, encapsulating the very best France has to offer. As Architect, Founder and Creative Director of Culture in Architecture, Aline Asmar d’Amman was the artistic director for the entire decoration project, writing the storyline and the design statement, and gathering a team around the idea of culture, sophistication, celebration and pleasure being present in every detail.

The interior renovation of Hôtel de Crillon is infused with creativity and inspiration. Embracing the heritage and the legacy of French patrimony, soulful designs bridge past and future, 18th and 21st century living, for a unique guest experience of French ‘art de vivre’ today. The entire projects’ storyline unfolded around these ideas, materialized with seamless clean lines and handcrafted noble materials. The dialog of modernity with ornaments and mouldings sets the stage for timeless elegance with an edge, whilst spaces are tailored to every need and fantasy with strong narrative decors evoking the world’s sought-after Parisian lifestyle. Throughout the 5 years of Culture in Architecture’s project, Aline Asmar d’Amman’s role was to ensure coherence to the design and making sure that all the original concepts of every space, outlet and guestroom, unfolded smoothly.

Culture In Architecture worked with the finest craftsmen of France and Europe, who are still transmitting ancestral traditions which have been challenged in every field for this project, reinterpreting them to bridge past and future. Every encounter with the makers was a moment of joy for Aline, from carpenters to weavers, metalsmiths, painters, gilders, and other incredible high crafts. Many talents participated to the project with much relevance in their approach. The highlight of the project for Aline is undoubtedly the collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, a visionary, a design maverick with unbeatable knowledgeable in 18th century and French decorative arts.

The design is all about the spirit of Paris, poised elegance with a touch of irreverence. Its success is due to Aline Asmar d’Amman & Culture In Architecture’s attention to detail, strong narrative and the artistic choices, all in coherence with the interior designs, materials, textures, light, soulful objects and curated art. From shelves to walls, every object was carefully selected for their powerful vibe and emotion. Luxury hospitality is a fabulous mean of spreading culture, emotion, and excellence to the many.

Travellers of tomorrow seek a strong authentic connection with the destination they are visiting, bespoke services and personalized adventures with meaningful storytelling. Aline Asmar d’Amman believes that Culture in Architecture have achieved a bigger purpose with Hôtel de Crillon’s thoughtful renovation: something guests can remember and enjoy, not just something to afford as a consumer. Luxury is slowly shifting towards true values which makes new horizons very exciting to explore in design philosophy and aesthetics.
