The Hotel Grand Hyatt Bogotá is one of the most ambitious hotel projects in the city, due to its architecture, size and location, offering guests a great superior service, first class accommodation and a large number of options within a multicultural and architectural context.

The hotel is designed on a three-story base conceived to reflect the internal layout of the architectural program and its amenities, forming an interface between the inner walk of the Business City and the adjacent neighbourhood. The platform is covered with warm stone, wood, metal and glass. The hotel’s main lobby is located at the narrowest point of it, creating a transparent connection link from the urban promenade to the adjoining neighbourhood. Along the facade of the pedestrian walk there is an outdoor dining room and large meeting spaces to create an active and welcoming atmosphere for the city and the Hotel.

Rising from the base of the podium, the elliptical tower that reaches 65m in height is designed to contrast within the rectilinear design of the surrounding office towers. The curved facade creates a symbolic centre of the resort, gesturing toward the city while provides the rooms magnificent views to the city and the mountains. This reflective glass facade is designed to symbolise the arrival of the modern and progressive city to Bogotá, it is a crystal refuge.

To give a local stamp to the project Construcciones Planificadas collaborated with the Colombian artist Jorge Lizarazo and his artistic fabric project Hechizoo. The intention was to construct an integral language from the entrance of the hotel to the last room, from the threads to the artistic handcrafted fabrics telling the world about the exceptional artisan qualities of Colombian handcraft. Additionally, through all the project art pieces from Colombian artists like Gabriel Beltrán, Luis Roldán, Teresa Sánchez, Hugo Zapata and others are located in special areas to enhance the user experience.

Each design decision was carefully taken considering a variety of criteria that included aesthetics, guest experience, sustainability, technical and functional requirements and operational needs. This allowed Construcciones Planificadas to generate a very efficient layout, with clear circulation layouts, excellent indoor conditions, an exceptional aesthetic design. All the operational needs were satisfied without compromising the aesthetics.
