The ABC Buildings are a unique Heritage 1960s building, repurposed for the modern media industry. The bar area ‘Metronome’ is a beautifully designed space which reflects the 1960s spirit of its original era. The architectural practice, Leach Rhodes Walker, originally designed and built ABC in three stages beginning in 1959 until 1965. The redevelopment began in 2017 and was completed in 2020. The aim for this project was to refurbish and extend this Manchester landmark to make it suitable for desirable workplaces.

The brief was to retain the spirit of the Sixties era, using retro geometric shapes and psychedelic palettes throughout the entire building. They key aspect of this project, according to Allied London, is the heritage Terrazo flooring, feature lighting and the bar itself. Working in tandem with the architect and the interior designer, Allied London were able to reinterpret the retro style into a contemporary design, creating a unique workspace location.

The design is holistically conceived to reflect the 1960s spirit, and this sentiment echoes the design of the whole building.
