Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour is a newly built precinct competitively situated within Sydney’s Central Business District. A constantly bustling location, the owner and hotel operator’s vision for the hotel was to create a city oasis well-suited to business travellers and families alike.

Aligning with the ever-changing landscape of the city and its various events and celebrations across the years, flexibility in functionality was also an important design component across all areas. The lobby and lobby cafe were designed to create a strong connection with the surrounding CBD area with flexible layouts catering to various scenarios.

Aside from the outdoor pool, all guestrooms are reasonably sized, with each guestroom containing a feature architecturally framed view toward the various angles of the Sydney CBD, allowing guests a spectator’s view into the cityscape in the comfort of their rooms. With the various design elements and considered integration into the wider precinct, Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour is poised to be the city oasis it has envisioned for itself.

As the primary human-scale space that guests experience upon arrival, the lobby’s considered master-planning and minimalistic use of finishes highlight the grand, yet contemporary approach ever present within the hotel brand.

The incorporation of sculptured timber walls are innovative and unique, and elevates the lobby’s spatiality as it welcomes and draws you in, Timber elements are also consistently implemented throughout the building as a primary design aesthetic either as a highlight or foundational design layer. Architecturally, each guestroom view to the outer CBD is framed in a considered vertical proportion, and the guestrooms’ interior also places emphasis on proportions and the use of clean lines. An appropriate modern design with a twist of Rustic Sydney, the sandstone-like finish to the precinct’s building exterior provides connection to Sydney’s historical charm.

Nestled nicely between Sydney CBD’s various cultural hubs such as Chinatown and the city’s primary shopping precinct, the new Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour integrates into the location through it’s considered master-planning, and inclusion of facilities that allow the enriching of various charms from Sydney to combine and explore new heights.
