Elma is a hotel and arts complex that uniquely combines luxurious hotel accommodation with the best in international music, plastic and performing arts. Ran & Morris Architecture & Design, as part of their work on the interior project strived to bring the purpose of the building into the hotel rooms for the guests to embrace.

Creating a story within the interior design of a project can be a very interesting and imaginative task, but for these designers, the most principled way of doing so is to discover the existing story. This is especially relevant when a place is surrounded in history and uniqueness, as the story exists and is just waiting to be discovered. In Elma Hotel, the story and the scenic surroundings already existed. These are the aspects that set the vision for the design, and helped rewrite the design language of the rooms and the suite. As designers and story-catchers, Ran & Morris Architecture & Design ensured that they remained loyal to the existing story of the building and its environment. In doing so, they were able to create a design that conveys to the guest the authentic experience of the hotel and the arts centre.

In their design work, Ran & Morris Architecture & Design understood that the main task for Elma Arts Complex Luxury Hotel was to reflect the characteristics and purpose of the building itself within the interiors, and bring them into the rooms for guests to be immersed in. For this reason, great importance was given to original and local Israeli art. Each piece was carefully selected by the designers and meticulously integrated and adapted to all hotel rooms and suites with consideration towards the details of the artworks.

From the beginning of the design process Ran & Morris Architecture & Design was aware of the importance that the architectural language of the original building holds. The architecture holds it’s own unique identity and history, in which it has its own special characteristics. The designers realized that they have to be committed by preserving a number of these important characteristics in order to succeed in their purpose as the hotel’s interior designers, and encompass the essence of The Elma Arts Complex Luxury Hotel.
