Avenue Interior Design was tasked with infusing a boutique hotel experience to this 200,000 square feet property boasting an eight-floor atrium lobby. Formerly a DoubleTree Hotel, these 286 rooms feature some of the largest suites in Santa Monica. AVE ID has interwoven elements of the rich legacy with subtle nods to the surrounding natural elements all the while incorporating Hilton’s brand pillars, creating an elevated, one-of-a-kind guest experience at this iconic Hilton Santa Monica property.

The guest reception has been fully updated for seamless check-in with greater activation and high impact design that instantly communicates a sense of place with a custom, hand painted mural by local Los Angeles based artist collective, Hattas (@hattaspublicmurals). A convenient co-working lounge has been integrated into the lobby with a variety of individual and communal workspaces catering to both the business traveller looking to make a quick call as well as to the leisure guest posting to social media.

Airy and bright, the newly renovated lobby lounge situated in the centre of the atrium is the heart of the hotel. The new design includes a focal wall with integrated, upholstered seating with side tables and accompanying lounge chairs surrounded by streamlined millwork with illuminated fluted glass panels. With the addition of this feature, Avenue was able to designate a proper pre-function area with its own identity while also providing a distinct persona for the lobby lounge. To offset the height of the atrium, smaller scaled architectural elements were utilized including the use of natural, golden oak slats marching along the expansive corridor railings.

A newly relocated bar, and fully renovated restaurant activates and ignites the lobby lounge social scene accommodating guests looking to grab a casual drink or to stay and dine on site. The restaurant, which includes an expansive outdoor patio, is now a destination in itself. The overall buzz of the venue is decidedly low key but polished and has been designed to transition from a peaceful morning dining experience to a chic afternoon hot spot.
