The Lodge Wine & Business Hotel is born from a unique spirit with an aura of timelessness that defines it as an exclusive design project. Atelier Nini Andrade Silva’s interior design provides a real connection with the territory and genuine experiences, and combines design with tradition.

Located in the historic heart of Vila Nova de Gaia near the Port wine lodges, The Lodge Wine & Business Hotel is a project that combines engaging design with context of the location. The design reflects the architectural versatility of its building as well as its geographical, historical, and territorial context offering genuine and distinguishing elements to the project. Atelier Nini Andrade Silva used the Demarcated Wine Region and the surrounding lodges to develop a concept which translated into an authentic experience that is closely linked to Douro region.

The designers focused on reading the space as a whole and walking through the hotel, experiencing the grand spaces and exclusive design notes that catch the eye. The analogy to the wine universe is often used throughout the hotel, creating constant allusions to the history of the Douro Region. An example of using the spaces and design to draw this connection is the scenic environment created in the hotel’s main entrance. Designed with the intention of carrying us to a universe of wine, guests are welcomed with a creative explosion filled with huge wine baskets, grapes, vine leaves and autumn colours. At the far end stands a staircase in a bold, avant‑garde design that rises, sculpture‑like, from inside a wine vat, ending in the foyer of the business centre, where everything happens and playing to all of our senses.

Atelier Nini Andrade Silva developed a concept totally inspired in Douro Region and its specific culture and heritage for The Lodge Wine & Business Hotel. Artisan skills were integrated within the design of the hotel so that guests can feel a genuine connection to the location and history of the hotel, particularly in the case of the dimensions and scope of the entrance design. Ancient artifacts were translated into the interiors to expand on it’s link to the Douro Region.
