The Peacock Room is an eclectic lounge/restaurant within the Hotel Fontenot, New Orleans, Louisiana. As one of the major attractions in Hotel Fontenot, The Peacock Room offers memorable experiences for tourists and local people. The peacock is the centrepiece of the brand and space.

Eccentric furniture, artwork and accents are found throughout the room, with a bohemian mix of art on the walls and vintage carpets on the floor. The colour palette is a sophisticated rich blue-green, paired with a muted pink, and a bit of white, grey and gold. The overall design depicts an elegant jewel box at the heart of the central business district in NOLA, creating a sense of theatrical opulence.

Museum Editions art consultants worked with MARKZEFF to curate art to fit the design and location. A custom art piece of trombone silencers was designed to pay homage to the New Orleans music scene, whilst striking turquoise lacquered paneling was built and installed by Palmisono builders.

The intent was to create an urban sophisticated lobby lounge that feels comfortable, lived in and in keeping with the neighbourhood and culture of New Orleans. New Orleans’ rich culture of art, music & celebration influenced the selections of art, furniture & accessories. Much of the furniture and accessories were also French inspired by New Orleans historical influences. This combination creates a sophisticated and playful scene, which is a key part of Hotel Fontenot.
