DSA Architects International have created an impressive and exclusive 5-star luxury resort, the Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort and Spa. Their design scheme was deeply rooted in traditional Bahraini architecture and GCC traditional houses, ensuring a strong connection to the region’s heritage while offering a retreat-style stay for visitors seeking unparalleled hospitality and wellbeing experiences.

Situated on the pristine beaches of Bahrain’s West Coast, the resort boasts 406 hotel rooms and villas, along with 38 island bungalows. Drawing inspiration from the flowing waters and ripples of the Arabian Gulf, DSA Architects incorporated the rhythm of waves throughout the resort, creating a harmonious blend of ocean views, greenery, and waterways.

The spatial experience of Muharraq’s heritage region, representing the life of a fisherman from ancient times to the contemporary living of Jumeirah Hospitality, is artfully woven into the project’s journey. DSA Architects skilfully tied architectural design, interior spaces, and landscape to provide guests with a strong sense of place, blending tradition with modernity to create a timeless design that embraces Bahraini culture.

The resort successfully delivers on the client’s vision of offering a unique leisure experience infused with cultural hints. Emphasising wellbeing and tranquillity, the simple yet effective design presents a range of activities and experiences suitable for guests of all ages. DSA Architects were mindful of environmental changes in the area, strategically developing the coast to protect it and minimise the impact on the environment. By respecting natural levels and avoiding discharges into the sea, the resort demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation.

The collaboration with local Bahraini artists to commission artworks adds a genuine touch of authenticity to the journey of the local fisherman concept, celebrating the rich artistic heritage of Bahrain.
