DZ Design, a renowned interior design firm, has recently completed its latest restaurant project, Mogao, a Pan-Asian restaurant located in the 4-star Raddison Red hotel in Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Inspired by the Buddhist hand-carved Mogao caves in Gansu Province, Mogao pays homage to the traditional Asian cooking utensils, the bamboo steamer, and the wok, while incorporating the signature red color of the hotel. The 350 square meters restaurant can accommodate up to 150 guests inside and 100 outside and aims to create a cozy and moody ambiance, offering an intimate connection to Asian cuisine.

According to DZ Design, the goal was not to create a gimmicky interpretation or direct replica of the strong cultural references but to offer a more immersive experience, transporting guests into the world of rich Asian cuisine. The restaurant layout provides various seating options catering to different occasions, from business lunches to family gatherings. Another key design feature is the wall behind the bar counter, which overlooks the main dining room. The team incorporated 300 middle-sized bamboo steamers into the wall cladding, arranging them beautifully to form a 3D geometric pattern.

Dubai Silicon Oasis, a hub for tech startups, has a vibrant dining scene, but Mogao offers a unique experience, reminiscent of dining in a cave. The restaurant’s entrance features a low-ceiling entryway adorned with wenge-finished timber battens, leading to a busy kitchen area visible through glazed screens. The L-shaped bar area overlooks the dining area, offering a pleasant dining experience.

The completion of Mogao adds another gem to DZ Design’s impressive portfolio of successful restaurant projects that aim to create unique and memorable dining experiences for guests.
