JoJo Macnamara Interior Design had to strike a balance between creating a contemporary and relevant environment whilst being sympathetic to the history and character of the building. Much of the building’s previous interior was removed, taking it back to its original structure, whilst preserving and showcasing historic elements, allowing the stunning venue to realise its full potential.

The hotel underwent a complete transformation, both internally and externally, which included the development of new outdoor spaces. The team was tasked with redesigning all public spaces, creating a new bar and events area, and refurbishing all the bedrooms, all new bathrooms, and finishes.

To create an impressive and elegant reception area, the team transformed the space that was previously occupied by the bar. The reception area now features Lewis & Wood wallpaper, new lighting, a parquet floor, and finishes with a soft colour palette of greys, blues, and creams.

The former bistro has been converted into a new bar space that can accommodate up to 50 guests. The designers repurposed part of the kitchen to extend the area and created a mix of seating, wall finishes, and beautiful parquet flooring. Original art by Caroline De Rothschild, who is local to the area, adds to the warm and cosy ambiance of the bar.

The orangery is now a vibrant space with lots of planting and a relaxing atmosphere. JoJo Macnamara Interior Design replaced the glass apex ceiling, installed new lighting, a new bar, new fixed seating, and high-level planting, while retaining the lovely original flagstone flooring. The color palette includes fun and bright finishes such as greens, blues, whites, pinks, and oranges.

The dining room is a bright and chic space with Colefax & Fowler floral wallpaper in pink, purple, yellow, green, and blue shades. Antique mirrored glass, green leather and velvet seating, and marble-topped tables create a beautiful and inviting atmosphere that opens out to a courtyard.

Two former bedroom suites have been converted into a stylish events space for conferences, private dining, and parties, while all the remaining bedrooms have been completely refurbished. The Georgian bedrooms feature understated classic styling, Loft Rooms have a more fun and playful appeal, and Garden Rooms have a bright and colourful palette.

JoJo Macnamara Interior Design has achieved an impressive and stylish modernization of this historic building. They have expertly created a contemporary environment that complements the heritage and style of the building while creating new spaces that meet the needs of the modern-day traveler.
