The Lodge at Healdsburg is a renovation and rebranding project of an existing Hotel building in California by Atwater Inc.

The town of Healdsburg is a historic and picture-perfect wine-country town surrounded by rising hills and vineyards. The lush valleys and redwood forest that cradle lake Sonoma and the Russian River became the primary source of inspiration for the Lodge design. The designer’s approach was not only to get inspired by the surroundings but to also create a space that would be part of the environment. Therefore, they implemented a selection of natural elements throughout the space such as rustic woods and natural stones. This creates a strong sense of balance and harmony within the lodge.

Originally, the lodge was an older building with traditional Tuscan-inspired Architecture which made it a challenge to renovate. The designers managed not only to refresh the existing building but succeeded in creating a brand new, cozy, and authentic Tuscan style. They took advantage of the unused outdoor spaces to offer more living areas such as patios and terraces.

One of the key aspects of this design is the casual comfortable living room, the lobby, and the wine bar with its reception space.

Awater Inc loved the idea of creating a casual living space that would blend into a wine bar and act as a main gathering space within the Lodge. As part of the design brief, it was important for them to infuse this sense of “feeling at home”.

This design works so well because it is a great addition to the existing lovely and elegant environment. Guests can come to Healdsburg to enjoy the lush Valleys, the beautiful rivers, and the amazing surrounding wine country in an authentic and cozy atmosphere.
