Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, designed by Eco-id Architects Pte Ltd, is a secluded sanctuary that merges luxury with eco-conscious design. Located 130 kilometers south of Mahé, the resort embodies a meticulous fusion of opulence and environmental mindfulness, inspired by the island’s vibrant flora and fauna. The main building echoes the colored and patterned tortoiseshell of native Hawksbill turtles, with faceted shapes creating airy canopies throughout the resort’s main buildings and villas.

The villas, set back from the shoreline to protect nesting sea turtles, feature expansive gardens and open-plan designs with sliding partitions for privacy. Each villa includes an infinity pool and a lush garden fringed by coconut trees, reflecting modern elegance. High-touch surfaces, such as bedside tables with intricate mosaic tiles, echo the turtle shell shapes. Materials were chosen for their durability in the tropical, humid marine environment, incorporating synthetic weaves from PET, bamboo cladding, and eco-friendly decking.

Eco-id Architects prioritized sustainability, utilizing solar energy for 95% of the resort’s needs and implementing eco-friendly practices like water recycling, energy-efficient lighting, and waste management. Handcrafted elements, including seashell curtains and driftwood artwork, celebrate the island’s natural beauty and support local communities. Seashell curtains, crafted from locally collected shells, cascade in the reception areas as a reminder of the ocean’s magnificence.

Through comprehensive waste management and recycling, and water conservation measures, Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island minimizes its environmental impact, ensuring a luxurious yet sustainable guest experience amidst Platte Island’s unspoiled beauty.
