HBA has recently unveiled its stunning renovation of the InterContinental Hotel Haikou Huacai, drawing inspiration from local maritime and Nanyang Overseas Chinese culture. Situated strategically facing the sea from the south, the hotel boasts a prime location near the yacht club and marina, making it a unique gem in Haikou City.

The design concept for the hotel’s entrance, lobby, lobby lounge, and all-day dining restaurant was deeply influenced by the rich heritage of Nanyang expatriates and sailing culture. HBA envisioned the lobby as a fan-shaped space, symbolizing a stage with its curtain open to the sea, evoking the imagery of sailors returning to port. Each guest is portrayed as the protagonist of their own travel story, enhancing the immersive experience of the hotel.

Descending the escalator to the all-day dining restaurant, guests are greeted with the innovative “COMMUNE” dining concept, curated to promote integration, gathering, and market ambiance. Inspired by Haikou’s arcade culture, the restaurant offers a journey reminiscent of exploring delicious food along the city’s old streets. Through meticulous design, HBA has captured the essence of Haikou’s history and culture, inviting guests to delve into the urban humanities and experience the city’s charm first hand.

The design team skilfully integrated the pyrotechnic atmosphere of the old street market into the restaurant’s interior, paying homage to Haikou’s commercial port history. By incorporating elements of folk culture and architectural style, HBA has transformed the space into a vibrant and dynamic environment, preserving the grandeur of the past while infusing it with a contemporary design language.

HBA’s renovation of the InterContinental Hotel Haikou Huacai has successfully created an immersive and culturally rich experience for guests, blending local heritage with modern sophistication to redefine luxury hospitality in Haikou City.
