G.A Group has completed a masterful restoration of the iconic Grand Hotel Astoria, now reimagined as Corinthia Brussels, in the heart of the city’s historic Freedom Quarter. Originally built in 1909, the hotel has been sensitively transformed into a luxurious five-star destination that seamlessly blends heritage with contemporary sophistication. G.A Group’s design approach was rooted in preserving the building’s storied past while infusing it with refined modernity, creating an experience that is both timeless and forward-looking.

At the core of the design is a deep respect for the original Louis XVI architecture, with its grand façade and intricate interior detailing. Key heritage features, such as the vaulted ceilings and ornate mouldings in the reception and arrival areas, have been meticulously restored. Backlit brass screens subtly reference Brussels’ artisanal metalwork tradition, grounding the design in its local context.

Each space within the hotel carries a distinct narrative. The Palm Court, bathed in natural light from a restored stained glass rooflight, offers a vibrant and elegant setting. The Palais Royal Restaurant, the spa, and the bar are all individually themed, drawing inspiration from the city’s royal heritage and craftsmanship. G.A Group has layered each interior with bespoke materials, curated Belgian art, and thoughtful detailing to create a cohesive yet richly varied guest experience.

In the guestrooms and signature suites, residential warmth meets high-end luxury through custom joinery, tactile finishes, and subtle nods to Brussels’ cultural identity. Sustainability was a guiding principle throughout the project, with a focus on restoring rather than rebuilding and sourcing materials locally.

By working closely with local artisans and preserving the soul of this Grande Dame, G.A Group has redefined Corinthia Brussels as a distinguished landmark that celebrates both history and innovation.
