Waldo Works has brought a distinctive design vision to the newly opened Kimpton Main Frankfurt, delivering a contemporary interpretation of Bauhaus style that pays tribute to the site’s historic roots as the former Deutsche Bank headquarters. Tasked with designing the hotel’s public spaces, guest rooms, restaurants, and amenities, Waldo Works created a cohesive yet varied aesthetic that combines craftsmanship, geometry, and a strong sense of personality.

The design brief called for spaces that are eclectic and approachable, with bold shapes and raw yet refined materials. Waldo Works responded by weaving together handcrafted modernism and desaturated colour blocking to give the hotel a clear identity. The guest rooms embody this philosophy, featuring clean geometric lines, tactile materials, and a playful mix of colours such as rust, blue, and emerald green. Each room feels individual, blending comfort with visual intrigue and a sense of humour.

In the public areas, Waldo Works embraced contrast to create a dramatic yet welcoming ambiance. The lobby juxtaposes cool chrome and crystal with rich green and red marble, velvet, and dark mahogany wood, evoking a sense of institutional elegance rooted in the 1950s. This refined aesthetic carries into ANNI, the hotel’s brasserie restaurant, which channels the charm of classic European cafés and traditional Italian American bistros. Black and white tiles inspired by Anni Albers, unique pendant lighting, and curated portraits contribute to the layered, cosmopolitan atmosphere.

On the rooftop, LAZULI offers a relaxed escape above the city, with panoramic views and a Mediterranean inspired menu. Waldo Works has created a hotel that balances individuality with the trusted service of the Kimpton brand, establishing Kimpton Main Frankfurt as a sophisticated, design forward destination in the heart of the city.
