Located at the southern foot of the World Heritage-listed West Lake, Geyuan is a Jiangnan-style garden hotel designed by Hangzhou Great Scale Architectural Design Co., Ltd. Covering 11,000 square meters, the hotel features 73 guest rooms, five restaurants, three tea rooms, and a fitness center. The design integrates architectural renovation, landscape, interiors, art, and signage into a unified experience rooted in local culture.

Inspired by Hangzhou’s rich heritage—once the world’s most prosperous city during the Southern Song Dynasty—the hotel design captures the era’s artistic aesthetic, lifestyle, and cultural depth. The designers have skillfully blended traditional elements such as porcelain, rattan weaving, Chinese bonsai, and folk painting into the contemporary setting, creating a modern retreat infused with classical elegance.

From the moment guests arrive, the spatial experience evokes the poetic beauty of Song Dynasty culture. Pine trees and white walls form a living ink painting, while mirrored water features and sculptural screens frame views into lush courtyards. Light and shadow shift through copper flower grids and soft curtains, blurring boundaries between interior and garden.

Each space, from the tea rooms to the winding corridors, reflects refined activities like painting, incense, and tea tasting. Warm woods, minimal lines, and rich textures create an atmosphere that is both ethereal and grounded. The guest rooms are personalised, offering tranquility, elegance, and timeless charm. Hangzhou Great Scale Architectural Design Co., Ltd. has created more than a hotel—it is a serene journey through art, culture, and memory.
