The Anglo American Hotel Florence, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection and operated under the stewardship of Westmont Hospitality Group, has reopened following a meticulous three-year restoration. Nestled in a tranquil area of central Florence, just a ten-minute walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station, the hotel—originally dating back to the 19th century—has been carefully restored to its former grandeur.

Throughout the renovation, significant emphasis was placed on preserving the building’s historical integrity. Original architectural features were uncovered, restored, and enhanced to blend seamlessly with modern design elements, resulting in a property that elegantly marries heritage with contemporary sophistication.

The hotel’s overarching concept, “A World of Contrasts,” is thoughtfully reflected in its vibrant interior design—characterised by bold colours, eclectic furnishings, and curated artwork. Upon entering the lobby, guests are welcomed by an inviting space that evokes the spirit of the 1920s, inspired by the Anglo-American expat society known as the “Scorpions.” This unique narrative extends to the guest rooms and suites, where traditional elements are infused with whimsical details that surprise and delight.

The food and beverage offerings also embrace this thematic contrast. The Whisper Wine Bar and Courtyard, once a gathering place for Florence’s British expat community, has been transformed into a lively venue echoing the ambiance of 1930s jazz and soul lounges. The adjacent Vivi Bistrot features a more subdued yet equally refined atmosphere. The hotel’s internal courtyard hosts cultural events, including literary salons, art exhibitions, and live performances—reminiscent of early 20th-century intellectual gatherings.

In addition to its cultural richness, the hotel caters to both leisure and business travellers, offering two stylish meeting rooms with a combined capacity of 70 guests, as well as a fully equipped gym. Drawing inspiration from early 20th-century artistic movements that challenged societal norms, the Anglo American Hotel Florence presents a design narrative that invites the discerning and curious guest into an immersive and unforgettable experience.
