El Equipo Creativo reimagined the public spaces of Kimpton Los Monteros in Marbella, fusing 1970s glamour with the vibrant spirit of Andalusia. The brief called for a complete transformation of the hotel’s communal areas, offering a fresh identity that honours its heritage while embracing the Mediterranean character of its setting.

Rather than viewing the existing 1970s architecture as a constraint, El Equipo Creativo saw it as a strength. Its retro charm became the foundation for a design narrative that bridges Marbella’s glamorous past with a contemporary, experience-driven vision. Interiors and exteriors were carefully orchestrated to transition fluidly from day to night, creating a dynamic and engaging guest experience.

Sustainability played a central role. Original architectural elements were preserved and repurposed to minimise waste, while natural light and ventilation were prioritised through patios, large windows, and louvred structures. Local materials such as ceramics, wood, and traditional tiles were used throughout, supporting regional craft and reducing environmental impact.

Artisanal collaboration was key. Ceramicists contributed bespoke tiles, and muralists created hand-painted artworks inspired by Picasso’s feminine portraits, connecting the space to Málaga’s cultural heritage. Every detail, from the filtered light through wooden latticework to joyful colour palettes and custom furnishings, was designed to evoke warmth, authenticity, and individuality.

This project exemplifies El Equipo Creativo’s belief in emotionally engaging design. It doesn’t erase history—it elevates it. Kimpton Los Monteros is not just a hotel—it’s a story told through material, memory, and place. The result is a timeless yet contemporary destination rooted in identity, intention, and heart.
