Hotel Borneta in Barcelona’s historic El Born district embodies a refined Mediterranean lifestyle, blending contemporary design with local authenticity and vibrant social energy. The project was led by Miiro Hotels in collaboration with Barcelona’s Heres Arquitectura, aiming to create a hotel that reflects the creative, artisanal and cultural identity of the neighbourhood while offering the comfort and sophistication of modern international hospitality.

The design carefully responds to the architectural context, including the iconic Porxos de Fontserè arches, shaping a spatial narrative that embraces natural light, warm Mediterranean tones and tactile materials. Across 92 rooms and suites, the palette of terracotta, sandy neutrals and soft greens is layered with natural timber, stone and bespoke joinery. Furniture and finishes were sourced from Spanish suppliers and artisan makers, with fabrics by Gancedo and handcrafted details adding texture and depth, ensuring each space feels individual yet cohesive.

Public areas function as social anchors, encouraging interaction between guests and locals. Volta, the open-kitchen Mediterranean restaurant, and the adjacent cocktail bar create a convivial atmosphere at street level. The rooftop terrace with pool offers intimacy and calm with panoramic city views.

The project prioritises specialist craftsmanship, including custom joinery, bespoke furniture, artisanal textiles, natural stone and timber flooring, and handcrafted finishes. These elements enhance the tactile and visual appeal while maintaining authenticity.

Hotel Borneta achieves a balance of elegance, warmth and local identity. Each space tells a story of Barcelona’s culture, providing an immersive experience that harmonises with its historic urban context. Public spaces, terraces and the street-level restaurant connect the hotel with the neighbourhood, making Borneta both a destination and a reflection of contemporary Mediterranean living.
