Highbullen Hotel, Golf and Country Club appointed Park Grove Design to transform a vacant roof space into luxury guest accommodation. The brief was to develop an outstanding suite with an aesthetic which belies its unusual space. A key aspect of the interior design was to focus attention away from the sloping roof lines onto a glamorous central feature wall. The wall serves as a stylish headboard, topped by large filigree table lamps acting as a screen between the bed and the adjacent open plan bathing area. A velvet sofa features as a footboard, creating a lounge to the other side of the room.

A matching window seat serves as a perch on which to enjoy the magnificent treetop views. Storage was developed within the eaves with antique mirrored cabinetry which appear free-standing through careful detailing such as tapered legs. One unit houses the hospitality area with specialist coffees and teas and the ubiquitous minibar.

On the other side of the headboard wall a mirror-polished freestanding bath reflects a lit white marble feature wall and marble floor.  This stone is repeated again in the suite’s shower/steam room and cloakroom. Guests are also treated to a glass-fronted infrared sauna with in-built music system. A second bedroom is arranged as a study complete with 3D television and Wii. This space can readily transform into a double bedroom, or accommodation for two singles.

The North Devon countryside inspired the colour palette throughout and earthy neutrals have been given a contemporary twist when combined with vibrant gold-coloured accents. Subtle tree themes are echoed throughout the suite in the hand-blocked wallpaper and in accessories.
