Project Name: The William NYC
Location: New York, USA
Interior Designer: In Situ Design, William Engel and Lilian B Interiors
Completion Date: February 2014

The design is the collaborative work of In Situ Design (interior architecture and design), William Engel (paintings) and Lilian B Interiors (interior design), blurring the lines between their three fields; architecture, interiors and art in order to create a liveable 3-dimensional painting.

Each floor at the William is a different colour. Monochromatic palettes of blue, teal, pink, orange or yellow vibrantly coat the ceilings, walls, carpets and bed linens and guests are immersed in visceral colour. Seamless white resin floors the colours frame the colours Diplomatic neutrality is found on furnishing and in bathrooms with a play of grey tweed.

In larger suites, floating walls separate living from sleeping while smoked mirrors provide a reflective backdrop for sleek kitchens. Terraced suites, offer guests an outdoor urban oasis to view the classic New York City skyline.

The William’s discreet foyer from its 1920’s hey days lends the air of a private club. Historic classical elements are greyed and guests are given a hint of the colour experience through tonal shifts of green and teals that surface in the reception portal and elevator lobby.
