Curated Home by Chrissy & Co have been shortlisted for Living Space – Canada Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.

A defiantly beautiful Parisian escape in Vancouver’s city skyline, this apartment by Curated Home By Chrissy & Co pushes the boundaries in a playfully sophisticated manner. As a hybrid of masculinity and femininity, the interiors have been designed with intrigue that is held in the rich assortment of texture and colour. The design is about breaking the mould, not integrating into the usual design genre that is found in the city skyline.

Small but grand, this beautiful apartment is a Parisian inspired jewel box nestled in Vancouver’s city skyline. Echoing the spirit of true European craftsmanship and luxury finishings whilst rebelling against the West Coast approach to smaller spaces, it is a playful twist on a European rebellion. The living room invites a sense of mystery with a beautiful fusion of masculine and feminine nuances which are also echoed in the collection of busts. Curated Home by Chrissy & Co uses a large mohair sectional instead of smaller scaled pieces to create a sense of comfortable sophistication and grandeur. The rich contrast of the defiant, entirely black kitchen visually divides the space, with a striking Nero marquina marble as a pop of contrast against the crisp white walls. Creating a sultry den like vibe, going into the kitchen feels more like an alluring experience than a task.

The beautifully defiant nature of the entire design echos Chrissy’s approach to not being confined to usual design principles. Breaking rules beautifully is a vein that runs through the heart of this apartment. The unorthodox use of black to create a greater sense of space goes against the typical perception that dark rooms should be reserved for large spaces. The ornate crown detail and larger ceiling medallion serves to rebel against the standard boxed apartment, and the decorative mantle a reminder that visual heat is enough of a reason to colour outside the lines in order to warm the designer’s soul.

It is a space full of depth and intrigue without feeling overwhelmed, holding the capability to make individuals feel like they have been transported into a different city with a contrasting view.
