Tell us a little about your background in design:
I actually started out many years ago back in 1990 with a passion for Textiles, gaining a BA(Hons) in Textile Design, I opened my own company and branched out in Hand Sewn Soft Furnishings. It was my passion for textiles that then lead me into Interior Design. I took a career break for a short while to have my 2 children, and then started back into Interiors freelancing for a while to which lead me to working on some amazing homes across Europe, at that point I knew I had to open my own Interior Design Studio and get back into the thick of it with a great team
around me.
How would you describe your personal design style?
I would say that my particular choice in Interior Styling by choice would be Modern-Classical Design.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
My Childhood memories and definitely through my travels.
In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a
general sense?
Its definitely becoming much more diverse in my opinion. Giving designers and open palette to create mind blowing opportunity’s within the home, work place.
Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2022
and beyond.
Most definitely Art Deco, I simply couldn’t live without adding an Art Deco Piece, Mid century Modern, Classical, Industrial, & Scandinavian Influences.
If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
My advice would be to analyse the scheme and take your time, collect pieces that talk to you and add them. Remember, your home is everything that tells a story about you. Build it correctly and you will be forever grateful.
How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
I would say that the Design and Architecture Awards are very important, they pick out the best designers in the game and put them on a visual platform for everyone to read a little more about them, and who that are, great recognition within the industry, broadcasting the best of the best.
What projects are you currently working on?
A Hotel project within London. A House Refurbishment in Shepherds Bush, Another Refurbishment in Farningham, Kent, And a Refurbishment in Hertfordshire.
What was your favourite project to work on and why?
My favourite was a palace in Qatar, I could add so much Modern Classical creative charm and had the square footage to do so.
What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
It has to be the project in Qatar, the palace was huge, it took many months to produce accurate floor plans and work alongside Qatar design maintenance teams and get them to deliver the design specification standards that was needed here per bespoke design.
Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
My laptop for sure, Creative Eye and attention to detail while building the Mood Board Presentation and Chelsea Harbour Design Center!
What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
To hopefully add 2 more members to my design team, open another design studio in Sevenoaks, Kent. To hopefully receive a call from a client who’s just purchased a Chateau in France, in need of my inspiration and creativity, And to build an even stronger branding at IBJM, taking us further into the Lux Design Category. To win our Award the we have also been nominated for with design et al would be an incredible achievement for us all.
Final thoughts; tell us a little more about yourself and your daily
inspirations:
Your most treasured possession?
I’m a homely girl, I’ve always loved a cozy home where the coziness draws you in and makes you feel that you don’t want to leave. Keeping all your well loved Interior possessions under one roof and building everything within it around you and your family are a must for me and always have been from an early young age. But my most treasured possession, is my gut feeling, it never lies.
You’re favourite holiday destination?
Dubai
Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?
The Mina a Salam (Jumeirah Beach) Pai Thai, In the Madinat’s Souk.
Your favourite book, film & song?
My favourite book is Extreme by Sharon Osbourne. Favourite film is Australia featuring Nicole Kidman. And my favourite songs Never Enough, I actually still have it as my ringtone, to which goes down very well in the middle of a clients consultation when I forget to stick the phone on silent.
Your favourite food and drink?
Indian food and a Diarano, it simply has to be, on the rocks.
Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?
With a great book on a beach front, with my two dogs Lola & Coco.
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?
If I wasn’t a designer, I would most definitely be a Pastry Chef, I love cooking. I’ve always been passionate about great food, and great produce, and finding ways to be creative around it and producing something mouth-watering and not forgotten easily.
