Casa do Lago’s new modern feel preserves the original restaurant’s spirit whilst also generating a relaxed, simple and elegant atmosphere. Boasting 1,300 square metres in total with 600 square metres of internal space and 700 square metres of outdoor terraces, the seafood restaurant can welcome large numbers of guests for both lunch and dinner.

The existing natural feel remains along with existing palm trees which have now been joined by additional exotic plants and foliage to divide areas and frame the terraces. The main entrance has been enhanced with a larger doorway and wooden decking which runs throughout the whole venue. This evokes a welcoming feel whilst playing on the nautical theme that has always characterised Casa do Lago.

The internal bar has also been relocated towards the entrance to invite guests to sit and relax upon arrival, whilst also enhancing a natural flow between the hallway and bar – which provides stunning lake views and a gentle lighting. The smaller dining room now features long mirrors on the ceiling to create an additional sense of space, which has also been filled with simple and classy artefacts and pieces of furniture. The main dining room boasts new wooden panelling to create a cleaner feel and plays hosts to two large fish tanks and seafood display units.

In order to expand on the outside areas, the swimming pool was removed from the terrace and has been replaced with two smaller, cascading water features which reflect the Algarvian sun. The outside bar features a pergola covering the seating area, ideal for light meals and drinks, and a new garden extension in the background. The highlights of this room are without a doubt the hanging hand-weaved palm fish, specially tailored by local craftswomen for Casa do Lago. The floating fish and wood installation represent the simplicity of nature, the beauty of the sea and its calm, relaxing effect.
