Isla James Interiors has transformed the Wentworth Retreat into a refined family residence where bespoke architectural joinery defines both the functionality and atmosphere of the home. Designed to introduce warmth, permanence and a distinctly British country house character, the project demonstrates how carefully considered craftsmanship can reshape everyday living while creating elegant and timeless interiors.
From the outset, Isla James Interiors viewed joinery as an integral part of the architecture rather than a series of individual cabinetry pieces. The entrance hall, once open and lacking definition, was reimagined with two glazed partition walls that create a welcoming vestibule while preserving natural light and visual connections to the wider home. Panelled cabinetry provides concealed storage for coats and shoes, while an upholstered bench, artwork and carefully positioned lighting transform a practical routine into an inviting arrival experience.
