The timeless, serenely elegant interior design by Katharine Pooley of a Ferretti Group 32m Custom Line 106 yacht showcasing the best of European design, exquisite craftsmanship and luxurious detailing.

Katharine Pooley designs some of the world’s most imposing palaces, castles, stately homes and hotels. In 2022 she turned her hand to yachts at the request of a returning client. The client, whose luxurious ski chalet Katharine had just completed, wanted to achieve a timeless, serenely elegant, interior for his new Ferretti Group 32m Custom Line 106 yacht.

Katharine Pooley was brought onboard to mastermind the yachts transformation and oversaw changes to the layouts, interior finishes, joinery, flooring, lighting and all the of the loose furniture and accessories. Using Katharine’s network of European suppliers and craftsmen luxurious details were added throughout with a textured, natural, contemporary feel. The overall design flows throughout all the interconnecting spaces with soothing shades of celadon blue, aquamarine, cream and nude, combined with layers of natural textures. Coral, onyx, travertine and light timber finishes are used throughout. In the main salon, honed travertine stone blends with coral sculptures, hand-chiseled oak wall paneling with a lime wash finish. Dashes of colour and elegant artworks and ceramics elevate the design throughout. Katharine accessorized every space with beautiful finishing touches.

Hand-crafted porcelain sculptures, displayed on pedestals and within feature mirrored niches, were also commissioned from an artist in France, while a bespoke dinner service from another French maker, Marie Daâge, was especially commissioned in shades of sea blue. Many of the textures throughout were inspired by corals and movement in sand and water and the use of sustainable materials also formed a key part of the brief. Natural wool, linen and silk fabrics add richness and warmth. The finished yacht interior is contemporary and chic and, although it reflects its oceanic inspiration and backdrop, it is very much a comfortable and elegant interior reflecting the exquisite craftsmanship and luxurious detailing Katharine brings to all her residential projects.
