Shortlisted: Residential Project Value Over £10m Award

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026

Villa Kyoto, a 1,222 m² private residence designed by JP Interiors Design, exemplifies the studio’s mastery in uniting Japanese minimalism with contemporary luxury. Conceived as a serene dialogue between architecture, interior, and landscape, the villa embodies harmony, balance, and light. The project draws inspiration from the wabi-sabi philosophy, celebrating imperfection, transience, and the quiet beauty of natural materials.

Movement and fluidity guided the design approach, ensuring seamless transitions between spaces and a constant connection with nature. The ground floor features an open-plan living area of 170 m² that integrates the living room, dining space, and show kitchen, complemented by a professional chef’s kitchen, a children’s playroom, and a spa zone with a salt room, hammam, and pool. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a 120 m² terrace with a lounge and barbecue area, extending the interior into the surrounding landscape. The upper level houses a master suite with a private dressing area and bathroom, two children’s rooms, and a guest bedroom, achieving a refined balance of comfort and privacy.

JP Interiors Design selected materials such as wood, stone, brass, and suede-textured finishes to create tactile warmth and visual depth. A soft palette of beige, ivory, and muted green enhances the atmosphere of calm, while sculptural elements like the quartzite fireplace and kitchen island unify the interior through texture and form.

Guided by Zen principles of simplicity and proportion, Villa Kyoto reflects JP Interiors Design’s commitment to timeless elegance, a contemplative retreat where light, nature, and craftsmanship converge to evoke mindfulness and understated sophistication.
