The residence was designed to function both as a private family sanctuary and as an elegant setting for hospitality, responding to the client’s request for a culturally grounded yet contemporary home.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026
The project is defined by a carefully resolved zoning strategy that separates communal and private spaces while maintaining overall cohesion. Majlis and dining areas were designed to accommodate social gatherings, while secluded private zones provide spaces for rest and retreat. This balance between openness and intimacy informs the overall planning and allows the home to adapt seamlessly to different modes of living.
Spatial sequencing is central to the experience of the residence. Movement unfolds gradually through moments of compression and openness, creating a layered architectural journey shaped by light, air, and material texture. Courtyards, filtered light, and passive ventilation strategies establish a continuous relationship between interior and exterior spaces while responding directly to the Moroccan climate.
Materiality is embedded into the architecture itself rather than applied decoratively. Zellige tilework, tadelakt plaster, hand-carved wood, engraved metalwork, bone inlay detailing, handmade textiles, and woven rugs were integrated throughout the residence to create authenticity, warmth, and tactile richness. Kart Group collaborated with regional artisans to embed traditional craftsmanship within the built fabric, supporting cultural continuity while ensuring durability and longevity. The restrained palette of earthy tones and natural materials reinforces a sense of calm, coherence, and permanence throughout the home.
