Louis Zhang Studio Limited has completed a carefully composed interior for a 155 square metre private apartment in central London, positioned to capture uninterrupted views across the Thames towards some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Throughout the project, Louis Zhang Studio Limited maintained a deliberate focus on restraint, creating a calm and quietly distinctive environment that offsets the visual intensity of the surrounding skyline.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026
From the outset, Louis Zhang Studio Limited prioritised the relationship between the interior and its outlook. Rather than competing with the dramatic views, the design establishes a controlled backdrop defined by light timber, neutral textiles and soft architectural finishes. This measured palette allows the external landscape to remain the focal point, while subtle interventions introduce depth and character within the apartment itself.
Central to the scheme is a bespoke hand painted wallcovering, positioned as a key architectural element within the main living space. Louis Zhang Studio Limited used this feature not as decoration but as a point of structure and narrative, anchoring the interior while preventing it from feeling overly minimal. Elsewhere, curved seating softens the architectural lines, while linear joinery introduces rhythm and clarity across the open plan layout.
Louis Zhang Studio Limited avoided the use of partitions, instead defining zones through proportion, furniture placement and lighting. This approach allows the space to feel expansive while maintaining a clear sense of organisation and purpose. Each element has been carefully edited, ensuring balance between expression and restraint.
The result is an interior that feels cohesive and composed, where craftsmanship, material control and precise execution combine to create a refined living environment that acts as a calm counterpoint to the city beyond.
