LPE Designs has completed a full scale refurbishment of a family home in Richmond, transforming a dated property into a vibrant, characterful residence that blends practicality with timeless style. The project included a substantial rear and side extension across both floors, connecting the original house to an adjoining coach house. This integration created a highly functional and expansive home for a busy family of five, while preserving the architectural character of the existing structure.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026
At the core of the brief was the family’s desire for a home that would support the demands of everyday life yet still feel personal and expressive. LPE Designs responded with thoughtful storage solutions to maintain order and openness, while tactile finishes and bold yet restful colours introduced warmth, energy, and individuality. Every room was carefully planned to be both practical and deeply reflective of the family’s personality.
The most striking transformation came with the coach house, which was incorporated into the main property to form a generous kitchen and dining space. Now the social heart of the home, this area features a dramatic double height space, Crittall glazing, and a seamless flow into the landscaped garden. Natural materials including exposed brickwork, oak trusses, oak flooring, and limewashed walls were used to honour the heritage of the building while grounding it in its surroundings.
LPE Designs also collaborated with Rosebank Landscape Designers to strengthen the connection between interior and exterior spaces. Arched Crittall doors, expansive glazing, and a cantilevered corner with bifold doors create a fluid transition to the dining terrace and woodland views beyond. The result is a home that balances heritage with modern living, where beauty and functionality coexist in equal measure. LPE Designs has delivered a project that is bold, liveable, and completely unique to its owners.
