Magni Kalman Design has completed an interior design project for a grand lakeside home in California that brings together modernity and warmth through a deep connection to its natural surroundings. The owners were inspired after visiting a home designed by McClean Design in Los Angeles and sought to translate that iconic modern sensibility to their Lake Folsom property, while asking Magni Kalman Design to introduce a softer, more inviting interior expression.

The single story residence stretches across the site to fully embrace 180 degree views of the lake and surrounding landscape, allowing nearly every interior space to maintain a direct visual relationship with the outdoors. With the lake as the constant focal point, Magni Kalman Design shaped the interiors to feel simple, calm and welcoming, using natural materials interpreted through a contemporary lens.

Art curation played a central role in the project. Magni Kalman Design assembled a collection that creates powerful moments both inside and outside the home, from a Jeppe Hein stainless steel sculpture floating in the front water feature to a Jose Davila work positioned to overlook the lake. Additional artworks by Tomas Saraceno, Callum Innes and Jean Baptiste Bernadet introduce intensity of colour and energy throughout the interiors.

The result is a naturally beautiful yet highly livable family home. Generous open spaces, unobstructed views and carefully chosen materials allow Magni Kalman Design to seamlessly blend the built environment with its lakeside setting, creating a residence that is both architecturally refined and deeply comfortable for a growing family.
